Sam’s Club Military Discount

Sam’s Club doesn’t take a percentage off purchases for military members. The Sam’s Club military discount is a first-year deal through ID.me, $40 in Sam’s Cash on a $60 Club membership or $70 on a $120 Plus membership.

Once you spend the Sam’s Cash, the first year nets out to $20 for Club and $50 for Plus. Military members who already belong get a smaller thank-you at renewal, $10 in Sam’s Cash.

The ID.me membership offer

The offer lives on Sam’s Club’s military membership page, which opens a join page hosted by ID.me. You verify your military status there, then join through the page’s link.

ID.me’s Club page said a new membership cost $20 after savings, and a matching Plus page set Plus at $50. Both ended October 19, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

When I checked on October 21, 2026, Sam’s Club’s military help page described the deal as $60 for Club with $40 in Sam’s Cash, or $120 for Plus with $70, and called it an ongoing offer.

The fine print limits it to new members. Renewals, current members and Walmart or Sam’s Club associates don’t qualify, and you have to be 18 or older.

One line is garbled. It excludes anyone who was a member “less than twenty-four (6) months” before joining, so the waiting period could be read as 6 months or 24. Sam’s Club’s general offers page uses 6 months for its discounted memberships.

The Sam’s Cash comes once, in the first year. The membership renews automatically at the regular price in effect, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

Who counts as military

Sam’s Club’s military help page lists four groups, and civilians who work for the military are one of them.

  • Active military personnel
  • Retired military personnel and veterans
  • Civilian military employees
  • Military spouses

On civilians, Sam’s Club and ID.me don’t agree. ID.me runs the check when you join online, and its military help page still lists civilian employees among the people who aren’t eligible for military discounts.

Sam’s Club doesn’t say which civilian jobs count, and its offer terms limit the group deals to people ID.me can verify. So a civilian employee could be on Sam’s Club’s list and still be turned away at the ID.me step.

The list stops at spouses. ID.me’s military group also takes in surviving spouses and the adult children and parents of service members, veterans and retirees, but Sam’s Club’s page doesn’t name them.

For proof, Sam’s Club’s page lists a Defense Department military ID or a Common Access Card, along with a DD214 and a photo ID, a Veterans ID Card and a few others.

This offer is online, though, so don’t reach for your military ID. ID.me does the checking, and its document list says Uniformed Services ID cards and Common Access Cards aren’t accepted.

Verification takes a .mil email address or an uploaded document, such as a DD214 or a Leave and Earnings Statement.

The $10 renewal bonus

Existing members get $10 in Sam’s Cash when they renew in a club or online. That part runs through January 31, 2027.

ID.me

The renewal bonus has a narrower audience than the join offer. It’s limited to active and retired U.S. military and their spouses, so civilian employees and veterans who didn’t retire from the service don’t fit its wording.

  • The Sam’s Cash lands in your account four to six weeks after you renew.
  • Your membership has to stay active for 12 months after you get it, or the $10 can be taken back.
  • It’s one offer per primary member, and when offers overlap, only the most recent one applies.

No discount at the register

Once you’re a member, you pay the same shelf prices as everyone else. Tasting Table reported in August 2026 that none of the big three warehouse clubs, Sam’s Club, Costco or BJ’s, offers military members or veterans a discount on everyday purchases.

The military offer is now the richest of the group deals. The one that runs for teachers, students, seniors, first responders and people on government assistance gives $20 in Sam’s Cash on Club and nothing extra on Plus, as the other membership deals show.

I’d call it a new-member promotion with a military door, not a military discount. The renewal bonus is the only part written for military families alone.

What the offers save over two years

The first year is where the money is. Over two years, a Club member who joins at $60 less $40 in Sam’s Cash and renews at $60 less the $10 bonus pays $70, against $120 at the regular price.

Chart of two years of Sam's Club membership for a military member: Club costs $70 with the offers against $120 regular, and Plus costs $160 against $240

Plus works the same way. A Plus member pays $160 over two years, $120 less $70 in Sam’s Cash and then $120 less the $10 bonus, against $240 at full price.

The offer also shrinks the gap between the tiers. In year one, after the Sam’s Cash, Plus costs $30 more than Club instead of the usual $60, which changes the math on whether Plus pays for itself for that first year.

From year two on, the first-year Sam’s Cash is gone. Renewals cost the full $60 or $120 fee, with $10 back for those who qualify.

BJ’s and Costco military offers

BJ’s has the most generous standing deal. The Krazy Coupon Lady reports a $25 BJ’s membership for military members, regularly $60, plus a $10 welcome bonus, verified through ID.me and available all year.

Costco doesn’t offer a standard military discount, according to the same Tasting Table report. Its new-member deals are open to everyone.

Sam’s Club nets $20 for the first year once you spend the Sam’s Cash, against BJ’s $25, but it takes the full $60 up front. Its help page now calls the offer ongoing, so BJ’s no longer has the edge on reliability.

Veterans Day offers

Sam’s Club has used Veterans Day for membership deals before. In November 2023, ID.me announced a $20 Club membership for veterans, active duty members and their immediate families, 60% off the $50 fee at the time, plus $5 off a purchase in the club.

That deal was online only and ran through the end of December 2023. I couldn’t find a Veterans Day offer from Sam’s Club in 2024 or 2025.

The pattern since then is steady. The military Club price was $20 in 2023, $20 in October 2025 and $20 again in 2026, while the regular fee climbed from $50 to $60. Since October 20, 2026, the same value comes as $40 in Sam’s Cash on a $60 membership. That makes today’s offer worth more than the old one.

Veterans Day 2026 falls on Wednesday, November 11. I’ll add any new Sam’s Club offer here the week before.
