Sam’s Club Tire Center Services, Hours and Costs

The Sam’s Club tire center installs new tires for $20 each, and Plus members get a discount on a set of four. The $20 covers lifetime rotation, balancing and flat repair, 5 years of road hazard coverage and up to 4 years of roadside help.
You need a membership for every service, and the center sticks to tires and batteries. Oil changes, brakes and alignments have to go elsewhere.
What the tire center does
Sam’s Club calls it the Tire & Battery Center, and its services page lists a short menu.
- New tire sales and installation for cars, trucks and SUVs, plus trailer, ATV, lawn and garden and winter tires
- Rotation, balancing, flat repair, pressure checks and tread depth checks
- Free battery testing, and free installation on a battery bought at Sam’s Club for most vehicles
- Free wiper blade installation when you buy the wipers, and headlight restoration for a fee at some clubs
The same page rules out oil changes, brakes, suspension work, wheel alignments, transmission and exhaust work, body and glass repair and state inspections.
Tire center prices
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Premium Tire Installation Package | $20 a tire |
| RV or dual rear wheel installation | $20 a tire |
| Trailer and specialty tire installation | $20 a tire |
| One-time balance and rotation | $3.88 a tire |
| Lifetime balance and rotation | $9.98 a tire |
| TPMS system reset | $19 a vehicle |
| Seasonal tire changeover | $14 a tire |
| Tire recycling | $2.50 a tire |
| Headlight renewal | $39.88 a pair |
These are the national prices on Sam’s Club’s services page. Tire prices themselves vary by size and brand, so the tire you pick sets most of the bill.

The two balance and rotation prices are for tires you bought somewhere else. Tires bought and installed at Sam’s Club get those services free for life.
What the $20 installation includes
The Premium Tire Installation Package is more than mounting. For $20 a tire on most cars and light trucks, Sam’s Club includes all of this.

- Mounting and balancing, a new valve stem or TPMS valve service, and a TPMS reset
- Disposal of your old tires
- Free rotation, balancing and flat repair for the life of the tires, down to 2/32 inch of tread
- Road hazard protection for 5 years, as long as you stay a member
- 24/7 roadside assistance for up to 4 years, covering towing, jump-starts, fuel delivery, flat changes and lockouts
Road hazard coverage is prorated. If a nail or pothole ruins a tire that can’t be repaired, Sam’s Club replaces it and charges you for the tread you’ve already used.
Come back after the first 50 miles, too. Sam’s Club asks members to have the lug nuts re-torqued then, and it does that for free.
Plus installation savings
Plus members save on installation when they buy a set of four tires. How much depends on which Sam’s Club page you read.
The tire center’s services page says installation on a set of four is free for Plus, “an instant savings of $80.” Walmart’s page on Plus benefits says the same, and Modern Retail reported in September 2026 that Sam’s Club had just added free installation to Plus.

Two other Sam’s Club pages say half that. Its membership comparison, which now lists Walmart+ as a Plus perk, says Plus members get 50% off installations, and its membership terms, last updated October 20, 2026, say $40 off the installation price on a set of four.

Some guides, including a Reviewed roundup from September 10, 2026, also describe the Plus perk as half price. Until Sam’s Club settles it, ask the Tire & Battery Center which discount applies before you buy, and point to the services page if you’re quoted half price.

By my math, free installation on one set of four tires covers the $60 step from Club to Plus by itself, with $20 to spare. At $40 off, it covers two-thirds of the step, and the rest has to come from other Plus perks, which since October 20, 2026, include a Walmart+ membership.
The timing matters. Most drivers don’t buy a full set of tires every year, so in most years this perk saves nothing, whichever version applies.
Tires bought somewhere else
Sam’s Club won’t mount brand-new tires you bought from another store or website. Its installation package and the road hazard coverage that comes with it only apply to tires bought through Sam’s Club.
It will still look after them. Members get free flat repairs on any passenger or light truck tire, wherever it came from, and free pressure checks. Rotation and balancing cost $3.88 a tire once, or $9.98 a tire for the life of the tires.
Against Costco’s tire center
Costco includes installation free with tires bought from its tire centers. Its tire page also lists rotation, balancing, flat repair, nitrogen inflation and a 5-year road hazard warranty.
That puts a Club member at Sam’s Club $80 behind on a set of four. A Plus member pays either the same $0 as a Costco member or $40, depending on which Sam’s Club page holds, and Sam’s Club adds roadside assistance that Costco’s page doesn’t list.
Service quality is nearly a tie. In J.D. Power’s 2026 study of tire replacement shops, reported by SlashGear, Costco scored 825 and Sam’s Club 823, just above the 822 average.
Car batteries
Battery checks are free for any member, whatever brand is in the car. A battery bought at Sam’s Club is installed free on most vehicles, often in under 30 minutes, with a corrosion treatment on the terminals.
Bring the old battery back if your state charges a core deposit, and Sam’s Club refunds it. Warranty terms are printed on each battery, and a warranty claim needs your receipt or membership record.
Hours and appointments
Sam’s Club says the tire center typically runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, with Plus members served from 8 a.m. on weekdays and Saturday. Hours vary by club, and the San Antonio club on SW Military Drive lists 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
Walk-ins are welcome and served first come, first served, but appointments get priority. Book by calling the club’s tire center, at the service desk, or by picking a club and a time when you order tires on samsclub.com.
Check your club’s page before a Sunday visit, since department hours differ from the club’s. Tires and batteries are also on the short list of items where the return policy says to check with your club.
