Sam’s Club Gas Prices and Gas Station Hours

Sam’s Club gas prices are set club by club, so there’s no single national price to quote. Warehouse club gas usually runs below nearby stations, and OPIS data reported in April 2026 put Sam’s Club 26 cents a gallon under the national average.
Most Sam’s Club gas stations are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and sell to members only. Your club’s exact price shows in the Sam’s Club app and on its club page.
How Sam’s Club sets gas prices
Each club prices its own fuel for the local market. Sam’s Club’s fuel page says pricing varies by location because every club sets prices based on its area, with member-only pricing at select locations.
That’s why I won’t print a price here. A number that’s right in Dallas this morning is wrong in Denver, and wrong in Dallas by next week.
- Open the Sam’s Club app or the club finder on samsclub.com.
- Pick your club and look for the Gas Prices panel, which lists each fuel type.
- If there’s no gas price panel, check the club’s list of services, because that club may not have a fuel center.
Treat the posted price as a guide. Club fuel pages carry a note that the actual price is the one on the pump.
How much cheaper it is
The gap depends on what you compare it with. Against the national average, CNN reported in April 2026, citing OPIS, that Sam’s Club and BJ’s ran 26 cents a gallon lower and Costco 34 cents lower.
Against the stations near you, the gap is smaller. GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan has told Consumer Reports that warehouse club gas is typically 5 to 25 cents a gallon cheaper than nearby stations.

Here’s what that means for the membership. At 15 gallons a week, gas alone covers the $60 Club fee once Sam’s Club beats your usual station by about 8 cents a gallon.
At 10 gallons a week, you’d need about 12 cents a gallon. A driver who fills up twice a month at a station that’s already cheap might never earn the fee back on gas.
Sam’s Club gas station hours
The standard fuel center hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Sam’s Club’s help center lists those hours, and its October 2025 hours change set Sunday fuel at 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. too. The pumps open three hours before the club’s 9 a.m. doors and stay on two hours after closing.

One page disagrees. The FAQ on Sam’s Club’s fuel page still says most fuel centers close at 8 p.m. on Sunday. The two club pages I checked, in Colorado Springs and San Antonio, list 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, so the FAQ looks out of date. Still, check your club’s page before a late Sunday fill-up.
Holidays are their own question. Clubs close on New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Sam’s Club’s holiday table doesn’t list fuel hours, so check the holiday schedule and your club’s page before you count on the pumps.
Members only, with exceptions
You need an active membership to buy fuel at most Sam’s Club gas stations. A small number are open to the public, either because they share a site with a Walmart store or because local law requires it.

At those public stations, members and Walmart+ users get 5 cents a gallon off. New Jersey is the exception, since state law doesn’t allow the membership discount. (Sam’s Club’s help page writes it as “.05¢”, but the context makes clear it means 5 cents.)
Walmart+ is the other way in. Walmart’s September 2026 gas savings announcement lists member prices on fuel at Sam’s Club as part of the Walmart+ benefit, and Upgraded Points explains that Walmart+ members can fill up through the Walmart app’s Gas Savings feature without a paid Sam’s Club membership.
Plus, Walmart+ and the Mastercard
Plus doesn’t buy a cheaper price at Sam’s Club’s own pumps. The Plus membership and the $60 Club membership both list the same member-only fuel prices, and Plus members’ 2% Sam’s Cash doesn’t apply to fuel.
What Plus adds now is Walmart+. Since October 20, 2026, Plus includes a Walmart+ membership at no extra cost, and Walmart+ takes up to 10 cents a gallon off at participating Walmart, CITGO, Exxon, Mobil and Murphy USA stations.

Walmart+ goes to the primary Plus member only, once the Sam’s Club and Walmart accounts are linked in the Sam’s Club app or on SamsClub.com. Sam’s Club’s Walmart+ help page counts more than 17,000 participating stations.
By my math, 10 cents a gallon covers the $60 step from Club to Plus at 600 gallons a year, about 12 gallons a week bought at those stations.
The other fuel perk is the Sam’s Club Mastercard. Sam’s Club says cardholders get 5% back in Sam’s Cash on gas on the first $6,000 a year, then 1%, and that applies to members of either tier.
By my math, $6,000 of gas at 5% earns $300 a year in Sam’s Cash. That’s more than the Club fee and the Plus fee combined.
Spending that Sam’s Cash on gas takes a detour, because the pumps won’t take it. Sam’s Club’s workaround is to cash it out toward a preloaded gift card, then use the gift card at the pump.
Paying at the pump
Sam’s Club pumps take the Sam’s Club Mastercard where the station accepts it, debit and credit cards, Walmart and Sam’s Club gift cards with a magnetic strip, and the Walmart store credit card.

- A card at the pump puts a hold of $100 to $150 on your account, depending on the state, and it usually clears in 24 to 36 hours.
- For $100 or more of fuel in one transaction, Sam’s Club points you to a gift card.
- Barcode-only gift cards won’t scan at the pump, so bring one with a magnetic strip.
Scan & Go also works at the pump. In the app, tap the Fuel tile, scan the QR code on the pump screen, pick a payment card, confirm the security code, and the pump turns on, with the receipt landing in the app.
Tap to pay is on the way. Walmart said in August 2026 that it’s adding tap to pay to Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations by the end of 2026, and to fuel stations by mid-2027.
Diesel and car washes
Sam’s Club fuel centers sell regular and premium gas, and many also sell diesel. Check the Gas Prices panel on your club’s page to see which grades it carries.
One difference from Costco is the fuel standard. Costco sells Top Tier gasoline, the detergent standard meant to keep engine parts cleaner, and a Nexstar report in April 2026 said Costco is the only warehouse club that does.
Only 41 clubs have a car wash. Sam’s Club lists them on its fuel center help page, from Fayetteville, Arkansas to Kenosha, Wisconsin, and charges every member $7 a wash unless the club is running a promotion.
